Week in Review: 11.25.2017

Each week, we search through our 360 media coverage to highlight the week that was in Ultimate Hoops Leagues.

Player Spotlight

In this special holiday version of the Week in Review, we want to take time to give thanks to some of the people who have been with Ultimate Hoops for a long time. These are the people who have been with UH for many years, and each of them have had a significant impact on helping UH grow into what it is today.

We start with Jazz Williams, who is our spotlighted player this week. Jazz is a trainer, and the league coordinator, in Colorado Springs. He's played in 205 career UH games, surpassing 200 at the end of the Summer season. He is averaging 16.2 points per game this season, and he is only 10 points away from scoring his 3,000th career point in UH. There's a good chance he could do that next week in Colorado Springs. There's also a chance he could get his 400th career steal next week as well, as he currently has 398. He has averaged 1.9 steals per game in his UH career, so next week could be a career day for Williams. These are all stats that reflect Jazz as a player, but he's had an even bigger impact as an LC and a trainer. Thanks for everything you do, Jazz.

Milestones

Our very own Reid Nelson pointed out to me that he surpassed 100 career steals in a game a couple weeks ago and I missed it. He was joking, and certainly does not want me to put it in this article, but he now has 102 after getting one steal in three straight games in the Minneapolis Athletic Club open league. Nelson does not light up the box scores, but he has been integral in the growth of Ultimate Hoops since he joined our team in 2011.

L.C. Comine, our media associate in Summerlin, is back this season writing articles for our Ultimate Hoops Las Vegas page. He has been apart of UH Vegas for a long time, the main evidence being his 368 career games, which is the 34th most in UH history. He is approaching 2,000 career points, as he sits at 1,976 at the moment. He'll more than likely get to 2,000 during the Fall season. When he's not playing, he's writing awesome articles for the two Summerlin leagues we have in Las Vegas. If you want to see his content, you can find it here.

We have many UH legends in Detroit, including McKinsey Golfin, the all-time leader in points for UH, and Joe Kassis, who runs four leagues in West Bloomfield and has won 17 championships. In this article, we're focusing on Johnnie Brown, who has some of the best career stats among Ultimate Hoops players. He surpassed 9,000 career points  last week,  and he now sits at 9,050. He is just the fourth player to reach 9,000 points. He is 15th all-time in wins, 12th in games played, eighth in rebounds and seventh in steals. Brown has also been a regular in our Las Vegas National Tournament with YLie, playing 17 career games in the National Tournament. He's made even more headlines with his fashion at our red carpet event. Every year, Brown is undoubtedly the best dressed player at the event, and that was the case once again in 2017.

These are just a few of the thousands of people that make Ultimate Hoops such an incredible community. Over this holiday weekend, we want to thank everyone who is involved in UH in any way. It's because of you that we are able to continue to have such great basketball experiences.
