Can Anyone Match with CG Clement?

WEST BLOOMFIELD REC: Week 2 Power Rankings

By Joe Kassis | West Bloomfield League Coordinator

1. CG Cement (1-0)

While many teams played well in Week 1, CG stood out amongst the rest. They were the only team to score more than 70 points, by scoring 98. Anthony Kann absolutely owned the paint collecting 16 rebounds and 3 blocks to go along with his 11 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Surrounded by shooters, CG was almost unguardable playing through their big man last week and it doesn't look like anyone else in the league was close to their level.

2. Fast Break (1-0)

Fast Break got off to a fast start in week 1, led by their dynamic duo of Marcus Hardy (23 points) and Chris Brown (24 points) leading the way scoring in a 69-59 win over Carrington Realtors. Ayrn Curtis didn't make a big impact scoring the ball, but he stuffed the stat sheet with 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals had a huge impact on the game as a whole.

3. Summer 19 (1-0)

In a 63-56 win over Elite All-Stars, Summer 19 was very impressive defensively and got just enough offense to pull out the win. Aaron Hakala and Gage Throgmorton carried the scoring load, scoring 18 pts a piece while Hakala added 6 steals to pace the defensive effort.

4. Showtime (1-0)

Showtime had the most impressive defensive performance of week 1 in their 56-45 victory Kickstand Brewery. They had a high percentage of made buckets with assists as they assisted on 18 of 23 of their made buckets. Karl Seyers (9 assists) and Tyler Warga (20 points, 7 rebounds) stood out on the offensive end, pacing the offense to score just enough to get the W.

5. Elite All-Stars (0-1)

A tough Week 1 loss to Summer 19 saw some positives for Elite All-Stars as they had 4 players score in double-figures. Davion Curry (16 points), Seth Simmons (14 points), and Brandon Voss (13 points) were leading scorers, but Elite will need to find a way to get a couple more key stops in the coming weeks if they are going to pull out W's.

6. El Fuego (0-1)

El Fuego ran into a buzzsaw in Week 1 as they almost got a hundie put on them by CG Cement. While none of the other teams seem to match up to CG at the moment, it is hard to hold the 35-pt loss against them too much until we see how some other teams fare against the top ranked team. El Fuego did get strong performance from Tyler Croteau (20 points) and Shockeem Jarrett (12 points, 9 rebounds). It would not be surprising if they turned in much better performance in the coming weeks against lesser competition.

7. Carrington Realtors (0-1)

A tough 10-point loss in Week 1 saw Carrington struggle to find their identity offensively and also struggle to pull together strings of defensive stops. Matthew O'Brien (18 points) and Al Hines (12 points) led the way offensively, but nobody else scored in double digits for CR. They are going to have to find more offensive weapons as the season rolls on to stop teams from keying in on their top scorers.

8. Kickstand Brewery (0-1)

After putting up the lowest offensive output of Week 1, Kickstand Brewery has got to be asking themselves, "Who is going to score outside of Jon Essenmacher?" This could be a couple players who were absent Week 1 in David Stapleton and Bruce Dietrich, however, at the moment they struggled the most in Week 1 amongst our 8 teams.
