Chuck Taylors Struggles Look to Continue in Week 6

FOLSOM: Week 6 Predictions

By Cory Gregersen | Folsom Media Associate

6 P.M. Scrappy Hour (0-5) vs Ballbarians (3-2)

As we inch closer to the playoffs, both of these teams are looking to reach their potential. Expect to see James Doran continue his hot shooting, but look for Scott Lacrosse, Virender Shergill, and Carson McMutrey to step up for the Ballbarians, who are coming off a tough loss against the Expansions. Scrappy hour will feature Dillon Gugin and Sanj Bagai, who look to improve their offense which is ranked last in the league in points (61.2 ppg).

I also expect to see a heavy dose of Nick Armocido, who has a size advantage over anyone on the Ballbarians roster. The key for Scrappy hour will be defense, but I think they will struggle to stop James Doran, who is shooting 54 percent from downtown (Steph Curry is only shooting 49 percent this season).

Prediction: Ballbarians 78, Scrappy Hour 68

7 P.M. Locker Room Talk (4-1) vs Expansions (3-2)

A key game for both teams as they try to distinguish themselves among the pack. Locker Room Talk is powerful team that is first in blocks, steals, and points allowed per game. They have great size and are aggressive towards the basket. Expansions are a team on the rise, led by the speedy backcourt of Alex Dimanno and Eric Kagan.

I expect the Expansions to give an all out effort on both sides of the court. Keep an eye on the matchup between Cory Gregersen and Ryan Benander, who will both be fighting for rebounds and points in the paint. The Expansions will need to keep up their sharp shooting, but it will be extremely hard to shoot over Joe Visman, Mike Martz, and Tanner Phelps.

Prediction: Locker Room Talk 90, Expansions 85

8 P.M. Game Time (4-1) vs Chuck Taylors (1-4)

Coming off a low scoring victory over Scrappy Hour last week, Game Time is ready to kick it in gear. Look for Billy Blankenship to dish out lots of assists to Zack Jacobs, Tyler Alexander, and the sneaky Juan Soto as they have their best offensive output of the season.

On the other side of the ball, the Chuck Taylors are still searching for other playmakers besides Mark Payne, who leads the league in points and rebounds per game. Look for Payne to drive and dish to his shooters Dan Barber and Nick Freedman, while Matt Pederson steps up on the defensive side of the ball. I predict an intense matchup between Tyler Alexander and Mark Payne, with Game Time eventually coming out on top in a shootout.

Prediction Game Time 89, Chuck Taylors 77
