After 12 years, Shawn Finecey is an Ultimate Hoops Arizona State Champion
Shawn Finecey played in his first Ultimate Hoops League game on January 15, 2009. As a starter for Break Dem Ankles, Finecey scored 12 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists in an 85-62 loss to Movers & Shakers.
Since then, Finecey has scored over 5,000 career points, 1,400 rebounds and 1,200 assists. He currently ranks sixth on the Scottsdale Open Division All-Time Scoring List.
Despite winning six league championships in his 12-year Ultimate Hoops League career, the biggest prize, the Ultimate Hoops Arizona State Championship, has eluded Finecey’s grasp.
Last week, Finecey finally secured his elusive State Championship as a member of Below The Rim. Finecey scored 16 points and eight assists in BTR’s 73-70 win over ACLU to win the 2021 Recreational Division Spring Season State Championship.
“This team has heart,” said Finecey in a LIVE interview after the win. “When we show up, we win.”
