Comine, Dupont elected to Ultimate Hoops Hall of Fame
Almost 12 years to the date, October 8, 2008, a 5’11” rookie started for The Thunderbolts in his first Ultimate Hoops League game at Life Time - Bloomington South. The rookie, Dustin Dupont, finished with two steals and earned the respect as one of the best on-ball defensive guards to enter the league.
1,643 steals later, Dupont is UH’s All-Time steals leader, #2 in assists list and a 10-time league champion.
And now, an Ultimate Hoops Hall of Famer.
While Dupont achieved elite success in Minnesota, he also brought home a championship at the national level. He won the inaugural National Tournament in 2011 with Saints+ in Chicago. Dupont scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and added five rebounds, five assists and five steals in the championship game.
Dupont was nominated to the Hall of Fame in 2019 but did not garner enough votes to be elected. In the time since, he’s won three more championships in two different leagues.
Entering the Hall of Fame with Dupont is L.C. Comine, who was elected in his first year of eligibility. The league championship record holder with 21 titles, Comine’s championship pedigree stood out to voters as well as his immense contribution as a League Coordinator, building Ultimate Hoops Las Vegas into one of the top UH markets.
“Open, Vet, Rec, Draft, National Tournaments, you name it, LC has put together contenders and champions consistently,” said 2018 Hall-of-Fame inductee Chase Skinkis.
Skinkis made it public in August he was voting for Comine.
For a nominee to get elected, they must receive at least 75% of the votes from 12-person selection committee, comprised of current Hall-of-Fame inductees.
The 2021 Hall of Fame nominees is expected to be announced in February 2021.
