Former WNBA star Candice Wiggins joining Ultimate Hoops Podcast Network
Former WNBA star Candice Wiggins announced she is joining the Ultimate Hoops Podcast Network. Her new podcast, Candid: with Candice Wiggins, will premiere June 27th via iTunes, Soundcloud & Stitcher.
After a celebrated basketball career, Wiggins announced her retirement from the WNBA in March via an article on The Players’ Tribune titled “Into the Sunset.”
Wiggins played eight WNBA seasons, the first five with the Minnesota Lynx and the last three with the Tulsa Shock, Los Angeles Sparks and New York Liberty. Following a stand-out collegiate career at Stanford — Wiggins left as one of seven women’s basketball players ever to be named an All-American four times — she was selected No. 3 overall by the Lynx in the 2008 WNBA Draft.
Wiggins earned Sixth Woman of the Year honors during her rookie season and averaged more than 13 points per game in each of her first three years in the league. A ruptured Achilles tendon in 2010 limited her in the years that followed, but in 2011 she won the WNBA title with the Lynx.
Watch Wiggins discuss the reason behind starting her own podcast.
