Monstars on Track for a Big Win in Week 2
KING OF PRUSSIA: Week 2 Predictions
By Kenny Brown | King of Prussia League Coordinator
7:30 p.m. - Monstars vs Maverace
This matchup features the new improved Monstars who are coming off of a Week 1 nail-biter, but look to get back to work against the new kids on the block, Maverace, who had an eye opening experience Week 1, losing by 53 points. The Monstars return the man, the myth, the legend himself, Kyle Dolby to the squad. He’s the original Monstar, who in his first and only season was league MVP, league scorer, leading rebounder and championship MVP. You add in Captain Mike Sidebotham, who also brings back Summer League leading-scorer Adam Kovacs, and this game might get out of hand. Maverace will have their hands full with the Monstars, as they don’t have much size and rely on Josiah Lowe to handle the scoring load.
Prediction: Monstars 88, Maverace 44
7:30 p.m. - KOP’s Finest vs Pippen Aint Easy
This matchup features KOP’s Finest coming off a close three-point loss in Week 1, but they looked good in their first game together as a unit against the upstart squad Pippen Aint Easy, who came out the gates firing in Week 1 only to lose in the final minutes. KOP’s Finest has two super-quick, athletic guards in Mekhi Clemons and Stephen Coachi. Mixed in with the veteran leadership of Dan Reardon and Bill Crowley, this team seems to have all the parts in place. Pippen Aint Easy has rookie sensation Joe Coalngelo, who’s smooth game and laid back demeanor will have you thinking how did this guy just score 30? Deep threat and seasoned player Alex Riley and the great decision making Floyd Preito will make this game tough for KOP. The guard play is the key and should be a great game.
Prediction: KOP’s Finest 61, Pippen Aint Easy 59
8:30 p.m. - King and Duck vs Hit Squad
This matchup has the defending Summer League Champs King and Duck against the Spring Champs Hit Squad. King and Duck coming off an impressive Week 1 29-point win picked up right where they left off this summer, dominating everyone they play. Captain Marcus Gaskins returns with former league MVP Anthony Bennett, and Summer League MVP Cody Pittman. Hit Squad will be ready to go as captain Kenny Brown made sure to get his championship players back and add another big man Larry Tape Jr. Can Hit squad slow down the younger, more athletic King and Duck and make them play a half court game? Speed vs Power.
Prediction: Hit Squad 65, King and Duck 64
8:30 pm - Injured List vs Sunline
The game of the week matchup features arguably the best team on paper Injured List and the company squad Sunline. Injured List is made up of solid ball players starting with the Scoring machine Jeff Miller, the speedy Mike Zhadkevich, sharp shooter Tom Fenstermacher, and Big inside presence Chris Shelton. Eric Straub the slasher completes this team. Sunline otherwise known as The Process is coming off a tough loss in the Summer league championship but they reloaded and changed their name. Sunline won their week one game with the team owner on hand watching his boys get the W. This will be an exciting game and Captain Mark Lepine believes his squad and co-workers Adibiel Ortiz, Shawn Hliwski, Paul Matthews, and returning point guard Donte McDaniel will get the job done. This will be a high scoring scrappy game and could be a championship preview.
Prediction: Injured List 73, Sunline 67
