FRANKLIN: Week 1 Power Rankings
By Patrick Forrest | Franklin Media Associate
1. DS
The first power rankings of Franklin U-Hoops begin where the last left off, with DS on top. DS hung the banner, going undefeated, in the inaugural season and returns the core of that team. Vocal leader Kale Sligh will look to get everything out of this team as they look to go back to back. The brother duo of Daniel and Drew Parker also return, along with sharp shooters Gary Pesta, Justin McCormick, and Taylor Larson. Some new faces join DS, Mitch Moeller and Tanner Sharpe, who will have big shoes to fill if DS hopes to continue their dominance. Until someone knocks DS off, they will remain the kings of this league and atop of these rankings.
2. The Monstars
A team being led by Marcus Haislip and Cortland Finnegan has to come in at number two in the initial rankings, only time will tell if anyone will have the fire power to keep up with these two. Returners from last season Cameron Craig, Sten Morgan, and Joe Campbell will look to anchor this team with high aspirations. The Monstars will need to gel quickly to match the firepower of DS and the other teams in the league.
3. Commissioner’s Choice
Number three in the power rankings is a nod to our fearless leader, Tyler Edwards, who is lacing up the shoes this season and getting back on the court. Along with him he brings last season’s leading rebounder, Markus Williams, and a top scorer in Alex Sweet. Big man Sonny Topiwala adds size to a roster that will look to compete with the league’s best all season.
4. Ace In the Cole
Ace in the Cole brings a newer roster to the Franklin Fall league, Bryan Kimmons is the only returning player. Size comes to mind when you look at this roster, team Ace In the Cole has it in spades with Grayson Brewer, Elliot Carney, and Cole Theodoropoulos should make this a dominant team on the boards. Smooth playing point guard Eli Ziegler will look to lead this team to glory and hang a banner of their own.
5. Fly Agents
In what appears to be a deep and talented league unfortunately someone has to end up on the bottom. Joe Lepera, Jacob Dweh, and Aaron Anderson are key returners for the Fly Agents. Beau Beach, John Cantrell, Greg Leifel, Ross McNabb, and Caleb Kleibscheidel fill out the rest of the roster that will look to go from basement to the pent house. The Fly Agents have a great blend of size and ball handlers that would allow for a quick rise in the power rankings.
