SYOSSET: Season Preview
By Anthony Leo | Syosset League Coordinator
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Chris Albano: Albano has been playing in the vets league for a few seasons now, but this is the first time he is a team captain. To this point, Albano is averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds in his vets career. Now as a captain with more control and being the go to guy those numbers could increase this season. We’ll see if Albano takes another step forward as the team captain of the Dream Team.
Justin Dattolo: Dattolo last season put up some big numbers averaging 21 points per game with a few 30-point games as well in his Summer season. This season he is back again pairing up with Alain Wehder and in their second season together I expect Dattolo to get even better. If Dattolo can shoot the ball from three-point range as well as he did last season or better teams will have to game plan for him all season long.
RETURNING PLAYERS
Stephen Sombrotto: Sombrotto makes his return to the vets league after taking the Summer season off. Sombrotto is always one of the league’s toughest and best players. He is always the teams Swiss army knife that can just about do anything you need from him. He can defend all five positions, score the ball and create offense for himself and others. He is always one of the most valuable players in the league and this season he is paired with Jay Harris. That combo is going to be handful to deal with.
David Konecky: David Konecky makes his return to the league after also missing the summer season. Konecky is a valuable player to have in this league. He is one of the few big men in the league who can step out and shoot and also rebound the ball. Konecky has career averages of 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. He will be looked to a lot this season for the Walking Dead and his scoring numbers may increase because of it.
