Someone Please Call 911
WESTWOOD: Week 4 Power Rankings
By David Jordan | Westwood Media Associate
In my best Wyclef Jean voice, “Someone Please Call 911.” Posterized is in big trouble trouble (that’s not a typo, I said it for emphasis). Granted, the team was without their vocal leader Jimmie Melton last week, but the team just hasn’t been able to figure it out. In a tough Westwood league where chemistry usually is a huge factor, it seems as though posterized is lacking. Heading into Week 4, Posterized is approaching must win territory. How will they respond?
1. Ea$y Money (3-0) Last Week’s Ranking - 2
At this point, it seems like Ea$y Money is winning games with their eyes closed. All five starters scored at least 15, while the team shot 63 percent from the field. Jason LaPlanche (24 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, 6 steals) and Stephon Prescod (18 points, 13 rebounds) helped to keep their team rolling to the No. 1 spot. Mario Payne (20 points) made sure to get in on the action as well. They’re winning easily and having fun while doing it. I’d say that’s problematic for the rest of the league.
2. Ruff Ryders (3-0) Last Weeks Ranking - 3
The Carlos show was in full effect during Week 3. Carlos Bermudez-Glean (25 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists) was a problem to guard, as he shot a team high 12 free throws. As well as the Ruff Ryders have been playing, it’s important to note that they have found ways to win with key pieces missing. They are gelling at the right time, and will only be better once they put it all together.
3. Legacy (2-1) Last Weeks Ranking - 1
It was too little too late for Legacy, as they took a loss in the final seconds against Ballaz Club. Legacy found themselves down at half and battled back, only to end up losing by one. Wissam Ajjouri (10 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) nearly had another double-doubles. The team will need better outputs from Ty McCray (13 points, 5 rebounds) and Ace Gouch (9 points, 5 rebounds) if they are going to be the team we all thought they were.
4. Ballaz Club (1-2) Last Weeks Ranking - 6
Ballaz Club found a way to upset Legacy and avoid going 0-3 to start the season. Tim West (15 points, 12 rebounds) was the standout in what seemed to be a defensive game from start to finish. It was a big step in the right direction for Ballaz Club. With that being said, the names on this roster alone means this team should be playing better. Let’s see what they give us in Week 4.
5. Beastmode (2-1) Last Weeks Ranking - 5
Beast Mode received a win due to a forfeit against All Style.
6. All Style (1-2) Last Weeks Ranking - 4
All Style received a loss due to a forfeit against Beast Mode.
7. Posterized (0-3) Last Weeks Ranking - 6
Posterized took an L for the third-straight week, and it wasn’t even close. This team was thought to be one of the better teams at the conclusion of the fall draft, but man have things changed over the last three weeks. We know Rodney Lemite (4 points, 17 rebounds) is on his comeback tour, but the team will need him to step up and score more than 4 points, especially when Jimmy Melton and James Naddaff are absent. They need to find a way to turn it around, and fast.
8. Spartans (0-3) Last Weeks Ranking - 7
The Spartans just haven’t been able to figure it out since their Week 1 meltdown against All Style. They shot 47 percent from the field. Four out of five starters scored in double digits. It’s not all bad, but they need more consistency from everyone in order to dig themselves out of this hole. Adam Quinlan was the high scorer with 17 points.
