Overtime Madness
SCOTTSDALE DRAFT: Week 2 Power Rankings
By Adam Butler | Scottsdale Media Associate
1. Big Drip Energy (3-0)
BDE matches up with the only other undefeated team thus far. Warren La Chance has the opportunity to score his 2000th point in this game…if he scores 73 of them. It shouldn’t be that hard, since he’s coming off of an easy 50 piece. WLC is absolutely killing the rest of the league, by averaging over 12 points more than the next highest scorer. Can he lead BDE to stay undefeated this season?
2. Bread Winners (2-0)
Bread Winners are coming off of a narrow win last week, but in the process have lost leading scorer Arthur Martinet. Brad Carroll is going to have to push heavy on the gas and get plenty of help from his role players while Arthur is out, especially if they want to beat top ranked BDE.
3. Big Bizness (1-1)
Losing last week in a triple overtime thriller, BB will be looking to get back to the winners column against Dribbling Soul on their second game of the night. The chemistry seems to be surprisingly good having only being together for two weeks. I definitely expect them to come out with a bang next week.
4. Dribbling Soul (1-1)
Danny Dziedzic has definitely led DS to their first win last week, pouring in 35 points and 8 rebounds. Helping him out was Louis Hernandez who had an easy 18 and 10 along with shooting 5-10 from deep. They’ll need to bring their A-game twice tomorrow and keep their legs fresh, since it’s their turn for a double header.
5. Wet Bandits (1-1)
WB got their first win last week over ya boy. After a very efficient and balanced scoring performance from all five starters, they could definitely make a push if the chemistry sticks for the rest of the way. Look out for Brayden Quakenbush to make a push for MVP and maybe DPOY as well?
6. James Meng Talent Agency (0-2)
Shorthanded during last week’s loss, JMTA will be happy to have Captain CRod and Jemarique Sharpe back in the lineup, and are looking for their first win desperately. Admittedly I could definitely step up and shoot better to help out the bench mob. Once we all get back in shape, we’ll be alright.
7. Bel-Air Academy (0-3)
After a rough start to the season, BAA is also looking for their first win after losing a few close ones. Last week, they struggled from the field, scoring only 53 points on 58 shots. Big man Tywan Ajani is a pleasant surprise coming in at 6’7 and Jon Johnson has a nice handle and skill set for a big man. Regardless, the ball has to go IN the hoop in order to win.
