Dewayne Pettus and X Over Draft prove their dominance over We Are One
The Scottsdale Draft League had a heavyweight prize fight last night, with two 6-0 teams battling for the title for best team in the league.
X Over Draft and We Are One are the two best teams in the league, they have the two best defenses in the league (X Over Draft allows 75.4 points per game, We Are One allows 77.1) and they are each led by the two best players in the league. Dewayne Pettus leads the league with a PPR of 48.7, while Will Soloman is second with a PPR of 42.5. There couldn’t be a bigger matchup in the league this entire season.
The main event didn’t live up to the hype, as X Over Draft took care of business and won 84-66.
Not only did X Over Draft prove that they’re the best team, Pettus proved that he’s the best player. He went off for 30/9/9, adding two steals and two blocks while shooting 12-18 from the field and 4-6 from deep.
Soloman had his worst game of the season, putting up a stat line of 23/10/7 with two steals and three blocks while shooting 10-25 from the field and 3-14 from deep. This was the first time Soloman has shot under 50% this season, and it’s only the fifth time that’s happened in his 18 career games.
The big difference in the game were 3s and free throws for X Over Draft. They shot 14-29 from deep, compared to 8-34 by We Are One. X Over Draft also got to the line much, much more, as they shot 8-12 from the line, while We Are One missed the only free throw they attempted.
X Over Draft are in position now to get a high seed in the upcoming Arizona State Draft Tournament, and possibly a number-one overall seed.
