L.C. Comine wins his 20th UH title, plus more storylines from a busy night in UH Las Vegas

The Las Vegas region had a busy Thursday night. Three different leagues played three different championships games, taking place in two different clubs. The Summerlin Vet League, Green Valley Vet A and Vet B leagues all crowned champions. That’s already a huge deal, but there were some significant milestones that were achieved as well, making last night very memorable in Las Vegas. Let’s breakdown each game individually.
Easy Go Travelers - 63, Off Constantly - 50
Let’s start in Summerlin, where there were a couple big storylines. First, the Easy Go Travelers finished their undefeated season, going 11-0, winning the franchise’s fifth vet title, and their first in Summerlin. Hollis Hale led the way in the win, putting up 20/5/8.
The title alone is a big accomplishment for everyone on the team, but the biggest story is that this title is the 20th that L.C. Comine has won in his UH career, which puts him in a tie with Hall of Famers Ryan Jansen, who won his 20th last Thursday, and Mckinsey Golfin. Naturally, you’d have to think this will give Comine enough traction to get Hall of Fame attention himself, not only for his skills as a GM, but also for the enormous amount of work he’s put in as a media associate and league coordinator in Summerlin. We’ll see what the committee thinks in 2020.
Running Buckeyes! - 95, Rudedogs - 79
In the Green Valley Vet A League, it was the Running Buckeyes! who were able to hold of the Rudedogs and win the summer title. It was an incredible team performance from the Buckeyes, as they played with only five players but spread the wealth offensively to lead to the win.
The Buckeyes were led by the trio of George Abbitan, Bernard Preston and Kenny McNeil, who combined to score 79 of their team’s 95 total points. This week caps off what has been a great season for Preston. He won the Green Valley Open title on Wednesday with Buckets and followed that up with a vet championship with the Running Buckeyes last night. He had 18 points and nine assists in the open championship, followed by 26 points and eight assists in the vet championship.
Bhoudini - 72, Boozers - 52
Last but not least, the Green Valley Vet B League held its championship last night, with Bhoudini coming away with the title. The highlight of this game was Charlie Farber’s performance, as he put up 25 points on 11-17 shooting, adding six rebounds and three assists.
That stat line is impressive, winning the championship is impressive, but what it adds to Farber’s UH legacy is the most impressive part of the win last night. This is Farber’s 12th UH championship, making him the ninth player in UH Vegas to win that many titles. Last night was also Farber’s 300th career win, making him the fifth player in UH Vegas to reach that mark, and just the 26th player in all of UH to get there. He reached this accomplishment in 419 games, giving him a career winning percentage of .716.
