Taylor King lifts Reincarnated with another dominant performance in Laguna

King

Taylor King is playing in his first UH season, and he’s taken the Laguna Draft League by storm.

In his first UH game, King had 45 points and 11 rebounds, and his production has only increased from there. He went on to get 51 points and 22 rebounds in his second game, a five-point win over Run ‘Em.

He was dominant once again last night, as he scored 68 of Reincarnated’s 98 points, and they were all needed in a close 98-92 victory over Harden In The Paint. King got to those 68 points by shooting 25-39 from the field and 9-18 from deep. His high-volume scoring has been both efficient and consistent this season, as he’s shot 64%, 63% and 64% in his three games. He added 14 rebounds as well in last night’s game, giving him an average of 15.7 this season.

The 68 points was just two shy of tying the Laguna Draft League single-game scoring record, which belongs to David Bagga, who scored 70 points on November 15, 2017.

King’s dominance has led to a 3-0 record for Reincarnated in games he’s played this season. Reincarnated lost the only game he hasn’t played this season, and they also suffered a forfeit loss in Week 5, which brings them to 3-2 six weeks into the season. Reincarnated scored 72 points in their one game without King, and they’ve averaged 94.7 points per game in the three wins with him.

When I look at King’s stats it gets me excited about the prospect of him playing in the Las Vegas National Tournament this May, as Laguna’s SoCal Select is back in the tournament after two years away from Vegas. I have no idea if King is in captain Jovan Zamorano’s plans this May, but selfishly, I’d love to see him suit up against the best competition UH has to offer.
