Rocko Holmes Had A Better Week Than You

Holmes

Rocko Holmes has played in two games on back-to-back nights, and I don’t think they could’ve gone any better for him.

Let’s start on Monday night, where Holmes played in the Arizona Draft Tournament for The Accountants, the nine-seed, who took on GOATs Tempe, the eight-seed. There were injury and ejection issues that forced the GOATs to forfeit this game after 28 minutes, which is what led to the low final score of 55-48 in favor of The Accountants.

Holmes made the most of those 28 minutes, as he scored 35 points (1.25 points per minute) on 14-27 shooting from the field, adding 12 rebounds and four assists.

“I’m not sure I’ve seen one single player have that dominant of a half,” Arizona Regional Coordinator Chris Walker said. “They genuinely had no answer for Rocko.”

Not only did Holmes score more than a point per minute, but he did the majority of the damage for The Accountants, as he scored 64% of their total points.

The Accountants now face a big test in the quarterfinals, as they’ll face the one-seed, Showtime PV, on Sunday.

While his Scottsdale draft team gets to rest until Sunday, Holmes was back in action again last night. He helped lead the five-seed Rocko & Associates (strong flex to have that as your team name) to the Scottsdale Rec League championship, as they defeated the seven-seed Dutch Boy in the Paint 69-62.

it’s as if Holmes is living in the same universe that Bill Murray found himself in “Groundhog Day”, as Holmes once again scored 35 points in a playoff game, only this time it was to win a championship. He got to the 35 points this time by shooting 11-28 from the field and 10-11 from the free-throw line. He added 18 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals to showcase his full dominance.

This is the second championship of Holmes’ career and his first in Arizona. His only previous championship came in the Fall of 2016, where he won a championship in the West Bloomfield (Michigan) Open League.
