Dentmon, Ball So Hard cruise to Las Vegas championship, record 6th National Title
With Alex Scales and 4-time MVP Dermaine Crockrell nursing injuries coming into the 2021 Las Vegas National Tournament, the pressure was on Justin Dentmon.
Dentmon, who signed onto Ball So Hard just a week before last weekend’s tournament, accepted the challenge and more, powering Ball So Hard to their sixth national title.
For the tournament, Dentmon averaged 27.3 PTS, 4.8 REB and 3.7 AST, including a record 63-point performance in a 156-77 win over Valley Hoopers on Saturday.
For his effort, Dentmon was named Tournament MVP, earning a $2000 shopping spree from Hugo Boss and a VIP sports hydration package from BioSteel.
In addition to winning their record sixth Ultimate Hoops National Title, Ball So Hard became the first team in history to win a Las Vegas and New York National Title in the same year. They made it look easy, winning by a margin of 37.6 points over their opponents. Their 156 point win over Valley Hoopers, set the National Tournament record.
Looking ahead to the 2022 Las Vegas National Tournament, scheduled for May 14-15, 2022 at Life Time - Green Valley, Ball So Hard looks to remain the favorite.
Other teams to keep an eye: Baseline (Houston), San Antonio Ether, Team Colorado and Private Lessons (AZ).
With more Ultimate Hoops league relaunching across the U.S., the influx of talent and teams will be significantly higher coming into 2022, fueling speculation the 2022 Las Vegas tourney will be the most competitive in history.
