This Is How We Do It
FRANKLIN: WEEK 3 POWER RANKINGS
By Patrick Forrest | Franklin Media Associate
1. The Monstars (1-0)
The Monstars look to be well rested as the come off a bye week and retain their number one ranking. They’ll look to show their skills this week in their first on the court action.
2. DS (1-1)
DS got back to their winning ways with an 86-70 victory of previously undefeated Commissioner’s Choice. Team DS started the game off as strong as you possibly could, going up 16-0, the lead only ballooned from there.
The second half did become more competitive, but every time team Choice came close, Dan Parker had the answer and allowed DS to pull away. Parker finished the game with 23 points and shot an astounding 75 percent from the field. Mitch Moeller also shot a ridiculous 75 percent from the field scoring 20 points and pulling down seven rebounds. DS found their ball movement swagger in this game, giving the entire squad easy looks.
3. Commissioner’s Choice (1-1)
Commissioner’s Choice falls down a spot this week after their loss to DS. It was a valiant comeback effort, but when you start the game in a 16-0 hole the odds of winning are not on your side. Takeaways from team Choice, are heart, they never gave up despite the deficit and actually had the game within five points in the second half but ran out of gas in the end.
Team captain Alex Sweat had a solid all-around game, 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Zack Leonard was the second impact player, 22 points on 53 percent shooting from the field. In order to compete with the top of the league Commissioner’s Choice is going to need that third scoring option to keep defenses honest.
4. Ace In the Cole (1-1)
Ace In the Cole gets in the winning column by defeating the Fly Agents 67-33. It was a dominating defensive performance in the second half, only allowing the Agents to score 6 total points. Kendall Graves lead his team to victory, 26 points on 71 percent shooting, not a bad day on the court.
In his first action of the year Eli Zeigler added 17 points and was the catalyst that made the offense go. Cole Theodoropoulos utilized his size in the middle pulling in 13 points. Ace In the Cole will look to continue their winning ways as they have their full lineup of players.
5. Fly Agents (0-1)
The Fly Agents did not have the opener they were hoping for, going down to the Fly Agents and only scoring six points in the second half. A lot of the Agents offense was disjoined and disconnected, which is to be expected to some extent in the first game of the year, but they’ll need to clean it up quickly.
Beau Beach led the team in scoring, 13 points on 60 percent shooting, and Caleb Kleibscheidel cleaned the glass, adding 10 rebounds. The Agents have a week to regroup and find some offense or this could be a long year.
