METROWEST REC: Week 4 Predictions

By Taylor Pettiford | Metrowest League Coordinator

Season Predictions: 2-4 (.333)

Tonight, in a Tuesday special, our two top-ranked teams in the league square off: Ankle Bullies and Wildcats. We’re in for a treat as last week’s player of the week faces our front-runner for Ultimate Player this season. We improved upon our abysmal start to the season predictions by guessing right on two of last week’s three matchups. Let’s see, if we can continue the trend in Week 4.

7 p.m. – TAPPED OUT (1-2) vs. UNCLE DREW ALL STARS (0-3)

Two teams that dug themselves 0-2 holes to start the season face off in Week 4. Tapped Out got one for win column last week, but the Uncle Drew All Stars are still in search of their first. John Finnerty is playing fantastic and Steven Gum is catching his rhythm. With new addition Brian Fay and Scott Lubarsky improving week over week, Tapped Out has a great shot to make it 2-2 on the season. But we’re not quite sure they will.

Warren Lane of UDAS is the best athlete in the league, Grant Hornung is due a breakout shooting night, Ben Lee may be the league’s best defender and Tedi George projects to be a premier facilitator. No, UDAS hasn’t shown us much to indicate they’re up for the challenge of getting this win. But we’ve got a hunch they’ll be fired up and come away with their first win.

PREDICTION: UDAS

7 p.m. – ANKLE BULLIES (3-0) vs. WILDCATS (2-1)

Game. Of. The. Week! This is one we’ve been waiting for since Week 1. Ankle Bullies are atop the standings and Power Rankings, but many across the league actually think the Wildcats are the best team. It’ll be a knock-down, drag-out type fight between the two squads. The Ankle Bullies have forced 53 turnovers through three games this season; a testament to their pesky defense. And last week their offense clicked down the stretch as they turned to their 6’5 center, Michael Biddlecom.

The Wildcats have the backcourt firepower to withstand the Ankle Bullies’ harassment. But can they overcome Biddle, Keith Rovinelli and Irving Azor on the glass? For as good as Mark Albright and Lou Hinckley are, we’re not confident they can. And it’s for this reason, we have the Ankle Bullies pulling it out in a close one.

PREDICTION: ANKLE BULLIES

8 p.m. – HUSTLE (1-2) vs. OLD GAME CHANGERS (2-1)

For all the seeming offensive firepower Hustle has in Brendan Andersen, Elzey James, Jeff Raymond, Felipe Billa and AJ Narayanan, they managed just 43 points in Week 3. Their lack of offensive fluidity is why we can’t peg them to beat OGC.

While OGC doesn’t score at a rapid pace, they’re second in the league in points allowed. Brendan Connolly, Tommy Rogers, Andrew Christopherson and Alex Fajardo are all plus defenders. Add in Adam Rosario to the mix and we may have the best defensive unit in the league. If Hustle clicks, we could see them coming out on top. But chemistry has been their Achilles’ heel all season and OGC gelled almost instantly.

PREDICTION: OGC
