Old Game Changers and Ankle Bullies Try to Make a Statement
METROWEST REC: Week 5 Predictions
By Taylor Pettiford | Metrowest League Coordinator
Season Predictions: 4-5 (.444)
We enter Week 5 with a trio of matchups with playoff implications. The Wildcats and OGC are a couple wins away from clinching first-round byes while UDAS is fighting to climb up the standings. We’ll break down each matchup and see, if we can finally get our prediction percentage above .500 for the season.
7 p.m. – HUSTLE (1-3) vs. UNCLE DREW ALL STARS (1-3)
On paper this game should be close. We’re not confident it will be. Of all the teams in the league, UDAS may be the last team Hustle wants to face. Between Warren Lane, Ben Lee and Otto Medrano, UDAS may have the best defensive unit league-wide following a week in which they forced 20 TOs. Expect Tedi George to get the ball moving, Lane to drop 25-plus and there be key offensive contributions from Grant Hornung and Michael Morris. Jeff Raymond will put up a gaudy stat line, but it won’t be enough for the offensively stagnant Hustle.
PREDICTION: UDAS
7 p.m. – OLD GAME CHANGERS (3-1) vs. ANKLE BULLIES (3-1)
Game of the week! Two 3-1 teams match up in a battle for playoff positioning. The winner sits in the driver’s seat for a first-round bye. So, who’s coming out on top? OGC. For as talented as Michael Biddlecom is, his team isn’t the most disciplined in half court sets and OGC is holding opponents to under 56 ppg. Riley Traveller and Adam Rosario should get a ton of good looks en route to a double-digit win.
PREDICTION: OGC
8 p.m. – TAPPED OUT (1-3) vs. WILDCATS (3-1)
This one could get ugly. Our top-ranked team faces the bottom-ranked one in the 8 p.m. hour. Scott Lubarsky, Steven Gum and John Finnerty will have to each be at the absolute top of their game to stand a chance. Stephen Dion’s Ultimate Player campaign will continue as his Wildcats keep rolling and inch one win closer to a first-round bye.
PREDICTION: WILDCATS
