GREEN VALLEY OPEN: Week 6 Predictions

By Michael Palmer | Green Valley Media Associate

JYD (2-2) vs. Flight Vegas (4-0)

JYD is coming off a huge win against the UnderDogs and will face Flight Vegas in what will be both team's first game of a doubleheader tonight. Cris Cockrell will be on Flight Vegas' radar as he put up 40 points last week and has been an absolute weapon for them. Jerome Williams and Kodiak Yazzie will be key guys for JYD to grab big-time boards and play lockdown defense, but JYD also has another big weapon down low in Eric Redeaux.

We'll probably see David Murtha and Brock Metzka try and stop the big men down low, however, Metzka was absent last week so we'll see if he shows up this week. I have a feeling that Anthony Livingston will collect an easy double-double and get at least 11 assists. If Murtha grabs at least 15 rebounds going up against Williams, Flight Vegas has my vote to win this one.

Prediction: Flight Vegas +5

Villains (2-3) vs. RudeDogs (1-4)

This will be a rematch from last week as the Villains will face the RudeDogs in what mat be another blowout, perhaps. The Villains' Andreu Johnson has been an absolute beast the last couple of weeks as he scored a season-high 40 points last week against the RudeDogs. I know that Johnson and Hollis Hale are aggressive shooters, but they're also one of the better facilitators in the league. We probably won't see Chase Skinkis grab 36 rebounds like he did last week, but he'll be all over the floor and make smart decisions throughout this game.

The RudeDogs' lone win of the season came in Week 2 against JYD, but JYD didn't have Cockrell and that's when the RudeDogs has Travis Sobers and Khalid Cannon. That was the only time Sobers and Cannnon played this season and if they want to win both games of their doubleheader tonight, they need both of them to suit up. Lamond Murray has been a big weapon as the former NBA'er is averaging 27.3 PPG in three games he's played this season. He missed last week’s game, so hopefully he'll suit up for the doubleheader and provide some quality minutes. Hopefully Leonard Mitchell lll and Ben Carey drill down some clutch 3s and let's see if Nick Davis suits up for the RudeDogs. The Villains are just too powerful and quick as the Villains are the convincing favorites.

Prediction: Villains -11

JYD (2-2) vs. Villains (2-3)

Game two for both teams as this is a rematch from Week 3 where JYD won by four points. In that game, Livingston and Williams scored season-highs with 32 points apiece. The Villains need to watch out for Redeaux attempting shots from downtown and I know based on their defense that they can stop his perimeter shooting as well as JYD's aggressiveness in the paint. The Villains should be familiar with JYD's transition offense, especially Livingston attempting going coast-to-coast. I have a feeling that the Villains' London Schneider will have a solid game and get to the charity stripe quite often. There's something special about JYD late in the season and if they feed the ball a lot to Williams down low, they should pull off the win.

Prediction: JYD -4.5

UnderDogs (3-1) vs. Flight Vegas (4-0)

The UnderDogs lost their first game of the season last week against JYD and should be locked in and prepared to battle it out against Flight Vegas in what will be their only game of the night. One guy that the UnderDogs have to have on point and ready to battle is Duelle Gore. He hasn't been the prolific scorer as he's accustomed to being and if he even scores at least 15 points, it's big.

Watch out for Dylan Hansel to play some lockdown defense, make some 3s and frustrate Flight Vegas. Adam Rellah can't be slept on, so Flight Vegas needs to make sure someone is playing exceptional defense on Rellah. John Floyd could have a monster game and I wonder who will try and contain him all game long. I've seen Flight Vegas play doubleheaders before and when they do, it seems like they play better in their second game of a doubleheader and somehow have more energy. I know that both teams can easily win this game and if John Loyd goes off early on, this will be the UnderDogs' game.

Prediction: UnderDogs -3

Ball 4 Life (1-3) vs. RudeDogs (1-4)

This will be game two for the RudeDogs as they will battle it out against Ball 4 Life. The question remains for the RudeDogs as to whether or not Sobers and Cannon plays this week. The key for the RudeDogs is to get to the charity stripe early and often and especially make their free throws. Ball 4 Life's Angel Castro will need to be on point from downtown as he only made three of them last week. Zach Dean will perhaps be Ball 4 Life's most important weapon and let's see how he does trying to stop Mitchell lll and Matt Darcel. I really like both teams here, but Ball 4 Life has my vote as the favorites here for sure.

Prediction: Ball 4 Life -5.5
