New Season, New Mindset
GREEN VALLEY OPEN: Preseason Power Rankings
By Michael Palmer | Green Valley Media Associate
1. Villains
The defending champs deserve to be at the top spot in the rankings after their win against Flight Vegas in the title game. They are without Chase Skinkis for who knows how long, but they have playmakers in Andreu Johnson, Josh McCarver, Jon-Ross Campeau, Hollis and London Schneider. I know this team is capable of repeating as champs, and watch out for some marque games this season by the Villains. Everyone is capable of scoring 20-plus points a game and they score a ton of points, and often do.
2. RudeDogs
I have faith in the RudeDogs as they're bringing back a strong core in Leonard Mitchell lll, Travis Sobers, Lamond Murray, Ben Carey and Matt Darcel. This is going to be an aggressive team that takes a lot of shots, delivers in the clutch and wins top-quality games. The only thing about the RudeDogs I'm a little concerned about is all of these guys can take over any time, so they need to be a big-time passing team and share the ball like crazy. Murray will be a threat down low and he'll have a lot on his plate this season.
3. Flight Vegas
Flight Vegas couldn't finish the fall season undefeated, and they also lost Ali Sabra and Cory Ford due to injuries in the title game. They'll have a lot to catch up on as Vernon Clemens and Robert Sandoval will have to work harder then they have before. David Murtha will be a key piece down low and he'll be more aggressive for sure.
4. JYD
I know JYD is a much better team then second to last in the league, but for now they'll stay here. Not unless Anthony Livingston and Jerome Williams have anything to do with the results. Both are pure game-changing players and love to go on big-time runs. Watch out this season for Livingston to be a huge facilitator as usual and Williams to get his double-doubles. If they bring back Eric Redeaux and Cris Cockrell, watch out open league because JYD will come knocking at your door for sure.
5. Free Agents
The Free Agents are a new team this season with some new guys, so until this writer gets a better look at them, I'll write a better description on this team.
