Samuel Evans goes off for 47 points and 17 rebounds yet the X-Men fall to 0-4 in Fort Washington
Sometimes having the best player on the floor is enough to get a victory against a better team. Samuel Evans gave X-Men, coming into last night’s game 0-3, a chance to hand the Outlaws, 2-0 heading into this game, their first loss of the season in the Fort Washington Draft League.
Evans put up a career-high 47 points and added a season-high 17 rebounds while shooting 18-27 from the field, 3-5 from deep and 8-9 from the free-throw line. This added up to a PPR of 51.0, which was the highest across all of UH Nation last night.
This was still not enough for X-Men, as they fell 94-89 to the Outlaws, leaving X-Men without a win and the Outlaws without a loss.
To add some context to how dominant Evans was for X-Men, the rest of the team combined to scored 42 points and grab 14 rebounds on 17-38 shooting from the field.
The Outlaws got steady scoring performances from Paul Curry, Alfonso Wilson and Andrew Pulini, who combined to score 70 points, as Curry had 30 and Wilson and Pulini had 20 apiece. Wilson added 12 rebounds and nine assists for a near triple-double.
Evans now has averaged 29.3 points and 12 rebounds with shooting splits of 56/36/95 this season. He’s been one of the better players in Fort Washington this season, but it still hasn’t translated into any wins for X-Men, as they sit at 0-4 with a point differential of -44.
