Kenny Seitz lifts Allstyle to first win of the season in Westwood
This season hasn’t gone that well for Allstyle thus far. They entered entered Week 5 with an 0-5 record, but they haven’t been the doormat that winless teams sometimes are. They’ve lost their four games (one of their losses was a forfeit) by a total of 12 points.
Allstyle played in their third two-point game last night, but this one ended differently than the first two. Allstyle was able to come away with a 71-69 victory over Easy Money, giving them their first win of the season.
“It was a must-needed win,” Peter Camden said in a post-game interview.
Camden finished the game with 12 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, with “a lot” of those assists going to Kenny Seitz. Seitz tied his season-high of 26 points, which he also did in a Week 3 loss to Ballaz Club. The big difference in the two performances was the efficiency, as Seitz shot 11-15 last night compared to 11-25 in Week 3.
The fact that Allstyle got their first win of the season is not that surprising considering how close all of their games have been. What makes it less surprising is that it came against Easy Money, who have now lost three games in a row (besides a forfeit win three weeks ago). All three losses have come without number-one overall pick, Kerry Weldon, who has not played since Week 2.
The other wrinkle to this game is that these teams made a trade a few weeks ago, and both players who were traded played well. Kymauny Roland, traded from Easy Money to Allstyle, had nine points and nine rebounds on 4-6 shooting. Cutis Williams, traded from Allstyle to Easy Money, had 20 points on 7-10 shooting.
It’ll be interesting to see where both of these teams go from here. Can Allstyle turn this win into a run with the playoffs approaching? Can Easy Money win a game without Weldon? Only time will tell.
